Description
In this seal script calligraphy, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is depicted as 觀自在菩薩, Japanese Kanjizai Bosatsu, Chinese Guanzizai Pusa. Guan zi zai, Kan ji zai 觀自在 means to view inward and to become free from worries and problems. As for the Englisch translation of 觀自在 there are two translations that I like most, 'Contemplating Ease', as explained by the late Chinese Master Hsuan Hua and 'Free And Unrestricted Seeing' as translated by Red Pine in The Collected Songs of Cold Mountain.
With this Zen calligraphy I wish to invoke the enlightened activity of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion and of the Perfection of Wisdom, Prajnaparamita teachings of the Heart Sutra. I have brushed The calligraphy is brushed in seal script style to stress the unattached and pure nature of Avalokiteshvara' s name.
Size of the calligraphy in cm: 35,5 x 129 cm
