Description
I have brushed the harmony/peace character 和, WA in Japanese and He in Chinese, in a modern semi-cursive style, appealing to kinship with all living beings.
The character Peace/Harmony 和 has two parts: At the left side stands the character for Grain and at the right we see Mouth. How does Grain together with Mouth suggest Harmony, Peace? Well, the earliest Asian idea of peace derives from the fact that the grains grow, wave and ripen together, hence the meaning union, harmony, peace, concord, 'being of one voice (mouth)'.
