Description
In this calligraphy Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is depicted as 觀自在菩薩, Japanese Kanjizai Bosatsu, Chinese Guānzìzài púsà.
With this calligraphy I want to invoke the compassionate activity of Avalokiteshvara, Kanjizai Bosatsu, the great Bodhisattva who promised to free al sentient beings from suffering. I have brushed the name of Kanjizai Bosatsu in large semi-cursive characters, so that the calligraphy gives you the presence of the enlightened activity that springs forth from this Holy Name. This calligraphy invites you to sit down and to be aware of this Immeasurable Ocean of Virtue.
The five characters Kanjizai Bosatsu, are all the more interesting because they are the first five characters of the Shingyo, the Heart Sutra, the essence of the Buddha’s teaching on emptiness.
