Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. 見 ken, to see
性 sho, nature, essence
The following teaching by the sixth Zen Patriarch Hui-neng, has inspired this calligraphy:
Use your own true nature and [its inherent] wisdom to contemplate and illuminate all dharmas without grasping or rejecting them. Just this is seeing one's essential nature and realizing Buddhahood. (The Sixth Patriarch's Dharma Jewel Platform Sutra, Buddhist Text Translation Society)
