This calligraphy shows the characters for mu-shin in Japanese or wu-hsin in Chinese. Mu-shin means literally no-mind or no-thought and it refers to the mind free of dualism, unbiased, free of afflictions and conscious of its self-nature. The concept of mu-shin is the heart of Zen Buddhism and a fundamental principle of Budo.
