Description
Avalokiteshvara ink painting and calligraphy of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy and Loving Kindness, called Guanyin, Kuan Yin in Chinese and Kannon in Japanese. This Bodhisattva represents one of the Great Spiritual Warriors, who vowed to help all sentient beings who call upon her/him. Avaloiteshvara is depicted in meditative pose.
The original Japanese /Chinese calligraphy brushed in semi-cursive script, is the Kannon Mantra - Homage to Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion, Japanese Namu daihi Kanzeon bosa, Chinese Nan wu da bei Guan Shi Yin Pusa.
The calligraphy has the following characters: 南無大悲觀世音菩薩:
Namu : 南無, homage
Daihi : 大 悲, great compassion
Kanzeon : 觀世音, Avalokiteshvara
Bosa : 菩薩, Bodhisattva.
