Description
Mushrooms are a favorite subject of Japanese and Chinese brush painters. I have always liked how they depict them. Qi Baishi likes to paint them together with bamboo shoots; Wu Ch'ang-shuo paints the ancestral longevity mushrooms on the rocks. I have painted them in the style of Chang Dai Chen, standing alone with large heads. Living in the Catalan countries who cherish an ancestral mushroom culture, both in collecting and eating them, I have painted the fascinating mushrooms called "rovellons", the saffron milk cap or
red pine mushroom.
